Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-contra affair, the tax reform and the budget, as well as the issue of arms control. She traveled widely along with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
